I have really enjoyed the journey of my portfolio. At the beginning I wasn't sure how I feel about it. I was a bit down because it was be so fussy and there are too many options to how you can create a portfolio.
Original portfolio;
I did this in the second year of uni as a basic to have my work somewhere so when this moment came I would already have a start on it. There were many things wrong with this portfolio, but at least I had one.
Portfolio after Rob's feedback;
We had a discussion with Rob about my work and how I was putting it on there. He told me to look at Bear and agencies like Moving Brands for inspiration and see how they have the structure. It was quite challenging to me to choose what to do and how to do it. I decided to take my own twist on it and add some experiments to my work to be able to represent my personality more into this platform. It also shows the thinking process and some of the back stage insights, allowing the viewers to get to know my thinking brain, which is in fact my main focus.
This project took a big part of my inspiration;
Portfolio after Derek's feedback;
After I did those improvements I then had a 1 to 1 with Derek. He was quite pleased because of how much it has changed from the first video about my portfolio to this. He gave me some little things to change such as the background so the text is more readable. Another thing he also mentioned was that I had too many things happening, so I should take some away and show the 'hero' images, which makes sense.
Overall;
There is a hug improvement. I definitely feel more confident to say this is my website, this is my work, have a look. It also shows my personality more and it feels more like me. Of course, websites can be improved over and over again. Everyone will tell you different things to change or swap due to their opinions, but one thing to remember is that at the end of the day this is you, your portfolio, your personality and its about YOU. How you want people to see you and nobody can stop you doing that. I will continue to look into the little elements and actually seeing how I can make it more specific for strategist as that is the area I want to look into and work.
