When speaking with Rob about my promo, I kept writing things down and little things kept appearing in my mind for later time. One of the things he said that I am is curious. Straight away the phase "curiosity killed the cat" popped up in my head. I got CURIOUS to find out where and how this phase got discovered and came along.
It turns out that in Latin this cure actually means care. Long time ago this sentence was "Care killed the cat", however in the modern world it's set that being nosy actually is not good, but what it really means is that the cat cared so much that it died.
After finding out about Schrodinger's cat I came up with some ideas for my promo driven by 'curiosity'.
Idea 1;
Is to have something, I don't know what or how, but a list which basically shows what you have to do to keep the cat alive.
Idea 2;
I found an interesting quote as I was browsing around in the internet. "Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back". This is so true because if you think about it, being curious allows you to find new ideas and things, which make you feel satisfied and when someone is satisfied it automatically boosts the happy hormones.
Idea 3;
If you really think about it, cat's are the biggest strategists that exist. They are so curious and they don't care whether they get hurt or not, they will do it, just so that they can feel satisfied.
Idea 4;
After understanding how Schrodinger's cat works, I had a light bulb moment. What if I send out two small boxes to the companies I want to work for. These two boxes will represent the literal meaning of having a 50/50 chance. People have to be curious to open the box and find out what's inside it. When they open it, the point is to have this whole research journey in there to show them how my brain thinks and that they basically need me.
After this I needed some more inspiration I started reading random pages of my current read Creative Strategy and the Business of Design. Something interesting that I found on this page is; a designer in the creative team is always partnered with a copywriter. It's kind of like one doesn't go without the other.
It also talked about the difference between tactic and strategy. I found that very interesting!
After finding these little nuggets, I reminded myself of Maslow's hierarchy of needs.
The 5 stages;
self - actualisation (problem solving, creativity, etc)
esteem (achievements, etc)
love and belonging (sexual intimacy, friends, family, etc.)
safety ( shelter, family, friends, support, etc.)
physiology (food, water, etc)
These aren't just things that we as humans need, these are also elements which businesses need to stay alive.
From this I got the idea of representing this in a way which will show what a business needs and how I can give them the satisfaction of fulfilling these needs and wants. For example, for esteem which is about achievements, I can say "Through my curiosity I will bring you new achievements."
I know this one is a bit random, but just watch it and trust me on this one. It's just a GOOD video! Watch it!
After this I though about the idea of creating a game or being influenced by a game.
Idea 1;
For example, jenga. Jenga is a game about thinking one stop ahead and this is also what strategists should be thinking about. I also had the idea of revealing something about my skills or research skills as they take out a cube.
Idea 2;
I really like articulate, it's about thinking and talking fast. Sometimes I have so many things which I don't know where to begin or how.
Idea 3;
Cluedo is another example which is really interesting. It's kind of being like a detective. Who, what, where. Strategists love finding out answers to questions.
Idea 4;
After looking at all of these inspirations, ideas and my cluttered mind. Another idea came along. Going back to the Schrodinger's cat, what if when they open the box they have to put a small puzzle together to reveal my info or about me or the journey that I went through to get this point.
Now that I have properly through more ideas, I need to speak to people about them and see how they see it visually or making them better. I don't really want to create something complicated, but simple and interesting.
