I think this has been one of my favourite lectures so far from the mirror!! There has been some interesting people that we talked about such as; Donald Trump, Kanye West, The Kardashians and others.
What does narcissism mean?!
I decided before writing this blog I should explain what it actually means. I typed narcissism into Google and this is what it said;
"extreme selfishness, with a grandiose view of one's own talents and a craving for admiration, as characterizing a personality type"
We talked a lot out narcissism and people, however I will only talk to you about the things that really got my attention and I found important.
Time Magazine - "The ME ME ME Generation"
The me me me generation was about showing how this generation is much more selfish, lazy, shallow and entitled. As we get older and time changes elderly people love calling the new generations these things. It's very stereotypical. One thing they don't know is that it's true but not in the literal sense how they are saying it. New generations grow up in different environment than them, of course we going to be SELFISH, ARROGANT, LAZY etc.
"People are inflating themselves like balloons on Facebook," says W. Keith Campbell
From 1966, when the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking were first administered, through the mid-1980s, creativity scores in children increased. Then they dropped, falling sharply in 1998. Scores on tests of empathy similarly fell sharply, starting in 2000, likely because of both a lack of face-to-face time and higher degrees of narcissism.
"Most people never define who they are as a personality type until their 30s. So for people to be defining who they are at the age of 14 is almost a huge evolutionary jump," says casting director Doron Ofir

Are we close to the celebrities or are we the celebrities?!
With technology nowadays it's very easy to contact people and get in touch with the other side of the world... literally. Technology has changed the way we look at things, the way we thing and the way we communicate. In my opinion! I believe that technology has made us more narcissistic. You can post anytime of the day and pretty much anywhere. You can see yourself, in different social media platforms. You can literally SEE yourself into it. You can see your reflection. Check yourself out, how you looking, how you're feeling. Share it.
Ronaldo
For me Ronaldo is a very narcissistic person. The way the stands, the way he walks, talks and spends his money show he loves himself because he is somebody. Narcissism isn't just about how much you love yourself, it's also about how you are being to others. The way you talk to them and act. I am not a fan of Ronaldo because of his attitude. He puts me off because of his cockiness as he shows it too much.
Nancy Holt & Richard Serra, Boomerang, 1974
This gives me the chills. When I stare into myself in the mirror for too long I feel uncomfortable as I notice things I wish I didn't. This is how this makes me feel like too. The echo effect that I hear puts me in a position where I don't know what do to go back to my comfort zone. What's interesting is that if I did an echo myself like when I use to when I was little I'm comfortable with that, but hearing her do this puts me out of place.
Picasso
"God is really and artist, like me... I am God, I am God, I am God."
I think this is good but bad. I believe that for you to be somebody and show the world that you know you're SOMEONE who is important you should believe it. It's like this... If you tell yourself you're a piece of sh*t, you're going to feel like this because you've set your mind in this way. I believe that our minds and thoughts reflect who we are. I would prefer someone to tell me this instead of being cocky and secretive to manipulate me with it. I think and I know I am narcissistic because of the things I say to myself. I am important. I am somebody. I am IMPORTANT.
I believe we are all narcissistic one way or another. Even the elderly that believe they're not! That is selfish - which makes it narcissistic.
