Year 3?
Excuse me what?
The time has flown by so fast. I feel like just yesterday I came into the university and met my friends. This year I feel like it's going to be amazing, well at least I will work and try to make amazing!
We had a lot to catch up with the class, it was so nice and such a warm feeling to meet and get together with these people again. Every summer we all go back to our cities and countries and I feel a little numb because the home has been separated and autumn comes and you get a little bit excited and honestly I couldn't wait to start the year again.
THE BRIEF.
Industry collaboration.
"Connect with an unsigned recording artist to create a collective cultural narrative."
Phase 1: Connect
In the first phase we are getting asked to find an artist and basically interview them. The want us to record them and make sure to use an Apple product as I haven't mentioned yet we working with APPLE. WOHO.
Phase 2: Create
Here is all about building a visual narrative around their work, personality and or cultural background. Bringing the stories to life through film, photography, animation and ProCreate image making.
Phase 3: Synthesis & Storytelling
This is all the final polishing parts of edit, adapt and synthesis. To form and packaging and structuring this into a form that will enable us to share and discover with a wider audience.
The key things that we should also remember from this brief is that we need to one minimum two of the following formats;
- A brand identity
- A short film/animation to be shared on YouTube or Vimeo
- An Instagram account with posts acsorss both 'Instagram stories & TV'
- A physical interaction
- A website/App or other online platforms
- Printed media and/or publication
What's next on the to do list?
I will be looking into unsigned artists and I will be trying to contact them. I definitely want to try something different this year.
I want to come out of my comfort zone in a different way and challenge myself quite a lot in terms of skills. This is my last year and I think I need to make sure I take as many risks as possible so I get the best criticism and learn from it, because after all in the real world people will tell you if you're work is sh*t.
I will also be working with Esther. I am quite excited because we've never collaborated together and it will be interesting to see what we will be able to come up with.
Let's do this people.
