Today we all talked in groups and we shared our provoking topics and ideas. Whenever we do something like this it always grabs my attention because suddenly I have an idea. This morning I came into class I had a few ideas but I though they were quite poor and not as interesting. Mistake number 1 right there. NEVER EVER EVER THINK YOU NOT AS GOOD AS SOMEONE ELSE.

So, we started discussing different topics from cheese on everything, should avocados exist, stupid people getting rich, Iphone vs Android and so on. It was interesting to see how such a small topics got people fired up and ready to make their point and argue back.

Some of the topics I have are;

1. Stupid people getting rich

2. Iphone vs Android

3. Female bosses?

4. Stereotype females (they should clean, cook, etc.)

5. Slut shaming

Moodboard of provoking topics;

The one I was most interested in was the slut shaming but when I started talking about it choices number 3 and 4 also got into that... this kind of lead to a whole new topic - misogyny. We started talking about that as a whole and all of this was into this whole topic. Now the problem with this is, is it too broad or in fact it's better because it's broad. When I started looking up things online a lot of discussions, articles, videos, memes and so much was out there for misogyny which is something so obvious but we don't think about it because we are so use to having it on daily basis.

Amber Rose

I must say Amber Rose was my first influence with the Slut Walk. I can not believe how much information and reactions there were out there for this whole topic. I decided to get as much as information I could and put it in a moodboard to see how it all links together.

What does misogyny mean?

/misogynymɪˈsɒdʒ(ə)ni/noun

  1. dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women.

I though I would start with what that actually means. Then I started researching random things around these words. A lot of different subjects came up from women shouldn't get payed higher than men or women look for sex because of the way they are dressed (NOT OK BTW). From all of this I started collection the information and putting it in a style of a 'moodboard'.

This is what I came out with.

All of this was done and collected by why men put women low. By calling them whores because they are wearing skirts? By telling them that they should stay at home and clean and cook because that's where they belong? I personally do not agree this is right!

My topic in a single sentence;

Misogyny is brilliant!

You might think... "but you just said the opposite?!" Correct! I want people to argue straight away. This way I will receive action from the audience and surprise them with my outcome.

My next step is to mock-up and create a proposal for this by showing the worse of the worse. Start to look and experiment the different platforms that might fit well for this e.g. Instagram and the style that I will consider creating it e.g. illustration, video clips, etc. I need to make sure I have a clear idea of how people can interact back such as; a man walking pass a TV screen and boobs popping out with eyes everywhere staring at them. Another interaction is create stickers and place them on mirrors so when you look up you can see popular men quotes that they say to women such as; "That ass tho.."

I am quite excited to see how this project goes. I feel like I shouldn't complicated and keep it simple because I tend to accidentally always make it more complicated than it should be. Well let's see how this goes and I'm just gonna have to keep reminding myself - DON'T COMPLICATE THIS!

Until next time.
