Amber Rose is a American model and actress.
SlutWalk is a transnational movement of protest marches calling an end to rape culture, including victim blaming and slut shaming of sexual assault victims. Specifically, participants protest against explaining or excusing rape by referring to any aspect of a woman's appearance. The rallies began on April 3, 2011, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, after a Toronto Police officer suggested that "women should avoid dressing like sluts" as a precaution against sexual assault. Subsequent rallies have occurred globally.
The protest takes the form of a march, mainly by young women, where some dress as "sluts" in revealing, sexy attire such as short skirts, stockings and scanty tops. In the various Slutwalks around the world, there are usually speaker meetings and workshops, live music, sign - making sessions, leafleting, open microphones, chanting, dances, martial, arts, and receptions or after - parties with refreshments. In many of the rallies and online, women speak publicly for the first time about their identity as rape survivors.
Interviews questions;
Glamour: SlutWalk is extremely timely this year because our education secretary, Betsy DeVos, just killed Obama’s campus sexual assault guidelines, which makes it so much harder for victims to get the justice they are looking for. For those that don't understand how detrimental this will be for sexual assault victims, how do you get people to change their way of thinking?
AR: I’ll tell you, when I go speak at colleges, a lot of boys will show up in addition to girls, and usually after they’re like, "You know I came here because you’re f-cking Amber Rose and you’re hot, and I wanted to see you," but then they’re enlightened. I’m not really a cookie-cutter type of girl. I’m going to tell you how it is. I’m going to make you feel uncomfortable, and people like to think I’m controversial, but I’m just being me. I literally tell them, "Think of the act that it took your mother to have you, because when she was turned on and she was horny and she was begging for your dad, she was a sexual being. Your mother is a sexual being. Your mother has had sex, and guess what? If you have brothers and sisters from your mom with different fathers, then your mom is a slut by society’s standards. By society’s standards, your mom is a ho." And they’re like, "Oh my God, I have three brothers from different dads," and society would say that their mom is a ho. But they don’t ever think of their mothers when they use these derogatory labels toward other women or other girls. I always say, "Everyone is someone’s daughter. Everyone is someone’s sister. Or mother." We don’t want to judge our own family members because we love them so much, so let’s try to apply that to people in our everyday life. And they’re like, "Oh wow."
Rose has openly discussed working as a stripper from the age of 18 before launching her modelling career. Since then, the 32-year-old has devoted her time to acting, modelling and feminist activism. She launched the Amber Rose foundation which campaigns against sexual violence, victim-blaming, derogatory labels and gender inequality and last year organised a “slut walk” which saw thousands of women take to the streets of LA to speak out against slut-shaming - something Rose has unfortunately been the recipient of both by online trolls and high-profile ex-partners.
"No one gives a f**k that Channing Tatum was a stripper. He's an established actor who's at the Vanity Fair parties and the Oscars, but for me, no matter how far I go in my life, I see these stories that keep referring to me as a 'former stripper'. No one says 'former stripper' about Channing Tatum, or 'former McDonald's worker' about Brad Pitt. No one does that to men."
I think this has really helped me to understand how I can create the females in my comic to really have a male character. I think it's important to gain understanding of how I can make sure I can create the best I can of the female characters to be men. After all, I am trying to provoke men by switching the roles.
Things that men say to women;
1. Your skirt is too short.
2. You have a lot of makeup today, are you looking for attention?
3. You're cleavage is too low I can see your boobs.
4. *stares at your boobs while you speak*
I am so ready to smash this project!
