What happens to our brains when we travel?

- travelling can stimulate your brain and encourage the growth of new connections within cerebral matter

- the key concept is the link between new experiences and the generation of dendrites within the brain

- dendrites are branch-like extensions that grow from brain neurons

- The greater your number of functioning dendrites, the better your brain will perform. This aids in maintaining cognitive functions such as memory and attention.

- even when things don't go as planned in a 'holiday' this still allows for dendrites to grow because we HAVE to deal with this situation and find a way out

Dendrites function

Other ways to stimulate your brain;

- coming out of your comfort zone

- talking to other people and seeing their perspective on life

- changing the route you take to work, uni, school, etc. it gives you look at something different other than your every day images

- going to meetings and places where you have to network, you don't know how a certain conversation will go or who you will meet

- increasing your motivation

Why is it important to travel in the 21st century?

- holidays were created by factory bosses in the 19th century

- cultural experience

- engaging with people and cultures

- globalisation has made this possible

- it's not about the cities and the buildings, it's about the people - they are the ones with the stories to tell

- the future travel is about having conversations with strangers

- 19th century - explosion of tourism

"Travel is the antidote to our fears."

In the above article, Jonathan Look JR speaks about his our opinions and views on travelling. I agree with him on most of the things. When we travel we automatic are willing to be more open, more respectful and more cultural in many ways. People are the same. We all live for a goal, we all pray to different Gods or no Gods. Our structure of life is the same one way or another, we just have different interest, different cultures, minds. Just by the though of travelling you are already showing that you are willing to see and find more information about other people.
